Institutional Support to Exports Activities is one of the lines of development of the Defence Ministry’s Industrial Policy with beneficial repercussions on the national industry and the Armed Forces. This has been the case for years, and is now formally incorporated into the Secretary of State for Defence’s Programme for Improved Strategic Resource Management.

The Secretary of State lends institutional support from the Defence Ministry to the Spanish defence industry in its exporting efforts, fundamentally through the Armed Forces and the Office of Armament and Materiel, which actively participates in the reaching of agreements which, in certain cases, are required by other Ministries of Defence when they acquire defence material from Spanish industry or from our Armed Forces.

For this purpose, Isdefe has established a support group called Consultoría Internacional de Defensa y Seguridad (CIDyS) (International Defence and Security Consultancy), which, acting as directed by the Secretary of State, has the following objectives:

1. Providing support to the international projection of the Spanish Defence Sector, contributing to enhance the presence and the business positioning of the Spanish industries within the Defence external markets.


2. Supporting the diversification of industrial defence sector clients, promoting their collaboration and participation in the Armed Forces weapons programmes of allied countries and friends.


3. Supporting the establishment and improvement of industrial and technological relations with potential defence material clients.


4. Supporting the creation of economies of scale in national armament programmes both in acquisition matters and in regards to life cycle.
