Technological/Industrial Management responds to the complexity and uncertainty of integrating technology in cohesive terms into organizations’ strategies (companies, technology centres, public and private organisations). A prime example is managing R&D activities, which always include a high level of risk in their deadlines and results, and that at the same time are essential to organizations’ competitiveness, efficiency, and excellence.

This complexity requires specialized, perfectly integrated management systems with a broad vision of the environment and its evolution that cover all phases of an organisation’s technology cycle. The definition of technological-industrial strategy, for example, permits Public Organisations to adapt their capabilities to forecasted demand or to their strategy. Integrated technological management service begins with analyzing capabilities, internal and external, and ends with technological experimentation, oriented toward interaction and validation with the end user.

Isdefe has been providing these services for over 20 years. Most notable, in technology management is the support provided to the Defence Ministry in managing its R&D activities, and more recently, supporting the Instituto Tecnológico La Marañosa (Marañosa Technical Institute). Of distinction in defining strategies are the studies initiated with Spain’s Autonomous Communities that will enable their technological-industrial network to adapt its capabilities to the opportunities offered by the security and defence fields.

To undertake all of these assignments we rely on a solid workforce, whose most important attribute is its structure, based on ‘responsibility diagrams.’ This team offers a body of knowledge that encompasses organisations, processes, methodologies and a broad spectrum of technologies. Noteworthy among those are emerging technologies, and those of interest in the area of security (optronics, new materials, NBC defence, Improvised Explosive Devices, etc…).
