In 2006 the UPM-Isdefe Chair was created to expand knowledge and competitiveness in the conduct of Research and Development activities. The UPM-Isdefe Chair has its headquarters at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicaciones (Polytechnic University Of Madrid’s Advanced School of Telecommunications Engineering), an institution known for its long history of involvement in these types of activities at the majority of its centres, as well as for being one of the best sources of training for professionals working at Isdefe.

Over the more than 25 years of Isdefe’s history, there have been profound changes in our country, not only socially and economically, but also involving the understanding and development of technology. This change has created a far more competitive scenario than before, with clients seeking advanced technological knowledge and capabilities from our engineers and consultants.

In the face of these demands, Isdefe is continually widening its knowledge base and competitiveness. An instrument that has facilitated the achievement of those goals and which has been developing in recent years in our country is cooperation between universities and companies. The university provides its scientific and technological capabilities through multiple thematic areas with an independent and enlightened vision, while the company provides a pragmatic point of reference to the collaborative working environment. This relationship is yielding excellent results.

The collaboration process with the Polytechnic University of Madrid was established with the following goals: the execution of scientific activities and technological development, the exchange of experts, and workforce training and the shared utilization of joint development technologies. Thus far, six booklets have been published jointly:
