Tomorrow is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and Isdefe is joining in with over 20 presentations to celebrate the “11th of February”.

For the second year in a row, Isdefe, with six female volunteers and one male volunteer who will give a total of 20 presentations in various schools, is joining in on the activities to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

This year is the fifth edition of the “11th of February” initiative, which will involve over 1,100 activities in Spain, most of them in schools, by way of planned presentations that will be made to some 32,000 students.

The 8th Conference on Security and Cyberdefence of the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares – CIBERSEG21- is organised by the Networks and Intelligent Systems research group at the Computer Science Department and the Isdefe Chair.

The conference is structured as a day of presentations - Thursday, 11 February from 09:00 to 14:00 - and a day of workshops - Friday, 12 February from 10:00 to 14:00.

CIBERSEG CTF will take place on Thursday, 11 February, from 15:00 to 19:00, where the participants will face challenges from various fields of cybersecurity.

On 30 June and 1 July, the seventh summer course of the Antonio Remón y Zarco de Valle General Engineering Chair was held online with the title "Outer space: Technologies and Systems for a New Conflict Scenario."

This Isdefe special interest course was sponsored by the company as it focuses on the heart of Isdefe's activities and saw Jesús Alonso Martín, Isdefe's Business Development Director, and Isaac Domínguez Santos, Isdefe's Space and Technological Centres Director feature as speakers.

Isdefe takes part in the NATO Task Group “5G Technologies Application to NATO Operations”

Working group IST-187, “5G Technologies Application to NATO Operations”, was created in September to allow NATO, through its STO (Science & Technology Organization), to analyse the technology and security aspects of 5G and apply them to military applications.

As a member of Spain’s delegation, along with Army personnel, Isdefe is taking part in this group through Ricardo Alvariño de la Serna, from the Defence and Security Department’s Tactical Platforms and Systems Office.

On 26 November, as part of the closing ceremonies for the 8th National Congress on Defence and Security R&D, the 2020 Isdefe Antonio Torres DESEi+D R&D Award was presented to the winning entry, which was “Predictive maintenance of ship engines through machine learning”.

This conference, organised by the Civil Guard in concert with Isdefe and held online on 25 November, was very well received in terms of participation.

The subjects covered focused on the role of the Civil Guard in the fight against organised crime, and revolved around the goal of understanding how COVID-19 has given rise to new criminal trends in Spain, the EU and around the world.

Isdefe Publishes Its 2019 Annual Report

Isdefe has published its 2019 Annual Report, which describes the company’s activity and results for the 2019 fiscal year, and specifically the organisation’s performance in three areas of sustainability: economic, social and environmental.

The Secretary of State for Defence and President of Isdefe, in her letter introducing this annual report, notes the good results reported by the Company, “a result of the principle of excellence, which guides the performance of our operations and the governance of the organisation”.

The 16th of November marked the start of the Big Things Data & AI Conference Home Edition, which was held online and that, for two days, became one of the most important gatherings in Europe on data analysis, artificial intelligence, the digital transformation and the cloud.
