Round table: "The importance of the Spanish aeronautical industry as an engine of the economy and for the distribution of European funds in the sector"

Isdefe participated in a round table on "the importance of the Spanish aeronautical industry as an engine of the economy and for the distribution of European funds in the sector" organised by Spain’s Official College of Aeronautical Engineers (COIAE) within the framework of the virtual conference on "The Value of the Aeronautical Sector", held on Thursday, March 18.

The discussion was opened by the president of Airbus Operations in Spain, Manuel Huertas, who gave way to a round table made up of: María Jesús Llordén, Head of the Tactical Platforms Area at Isdefe; Clara Tébar, Director of Operations at TEDAE; Jesús Caballero, Director of the Seville Airport, Aena; Gonzalo Alonso Pacheco, Head of Enaire's Commercial and International Business Development Division; Jorge Caro, General Secretary in Spain of Airbus Defence & Space; and Ignacio Rodríguez, Director of Business Development at Globalia Handling.

The forum was moderated by the Dean of the Official College of Aeronautical Engineers of Spain, Estefanía Matesanz.

María Jesús LIordén, with Isdefe's Defence and Security Directorate, addressed the need for the Spanish aeronautical industry to adapt to current market demand, designing an effective plan that, in the short term, will sustain the business in accordance with the terms required and prepare it for the future, when the crisis will, gradually, be overcome, positioning the Spanish aeronautical industry as a European leader.

In her remarks Isdefe's representative indicated that, for this process of transformation of the aeronautical sector, the EC has offered member countries #nextgeneration funds, perhaps insufficient, but necessary, whose keys to optimal use and the achievement of objectives are supported by:

  • Public-private partnerships
  • The preparation of a strategic plan, identifying investment areas and sectors aligned with the lines promulgated by the EC for the use of these funds, and with the aim of situating the Spanish aeronautical industry in a leading position.
  • In-depth knowledge of the application, execution and auditing processes of these funds, thereby minimising failure.

Llordén pointed out that, as a company, Isdefe is prepared to support the administration and the industry in these three areas.
