The COPKIT project, coordinated by Isdefe, was a finalist at the go!SDG Awards

The go!SDG Awards aim to recognise and support those innovative projects that contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the COPKIT project chosen as a finalist for its contribution to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Solid Institutions.

Isdefe was voted a finalist at the 3rd Edition of the go!SDG Awards for its contribution to the achievement of SDG16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. The COPKIT project is based on an early warning and response system to support police efforts against organised crime and terrorism.

COPKIT focuses on analysing, investigating, mitigating and preventing the use of new information and communication technologies by organised crime and terrorist groups.

To this end, COPKIT proposes an Early Warning/Early Response system used by both strategic and operational intelligence.

The project develops tools to take full advantage of the results of police investigations and strategic police analysis. It also ensures that new tools, detection capabilities and knowledge sharing respect EU data protection rules and ethical principles.

COPKIT is funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, which aims to ensure Europe's global competitiveness under the principle of “Social Challenges – Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies”, aimed at “protecting the freedom and security of Europe and its citizens”.

The consortium that carries out this project, led by Isdefe, is composed of 18 partners from 13 countries with different profiles, and experience in various spheres, including law enforcement agencies, industry, academia and research and technology organisations.

In addition, the COPKIT project assigns a key role to the “End-User and Stakeholder Advisory Board” (EUSAB). This external and independent board, led by EUROPOL, includes end-users and experts from different fields, who advise the consortium on the practical implementation of the project's objectives, as well as on issues related to its direction, progress, results and deliverables.

The involvement of end-users (EUROPOL, National Police, Civil Guard, French National Gendarmerie, Belgian Federal Police, Romanian Police, Latvian Police, Bulgarian Police and the Bavarian Police Academy) in this project ensures the attainment of the objectives and their impact on crime reduction. The results of COPKIT will make it possible to bolster the security of Europe and its citizens by making available to law enforcement agencies a set of tools that draw on knowledge and intelligence to prevent crime, organised crime and terrorism.

This project has been presented at different high-impact international events, such as the EUROPOL SIRIUS Conference (Cross-border Access to Electronic Evidence), the "Mediterranean Security Event", where it was a co-organiser, the "Industrial Days" of the i-LEAD end-user project (Law Enforcement Agencies Dialogue), etc.
