Isdefe collaborates with the 2021 Women Pioneers IT Award

The Women Pioneers_IT Award was created in 2019 by the IT Women Working Group of the Official Association of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) in an effort to showcase the contributions and achievements that have been made in society thanks to the presence of female talent in the field of technology and, in particular, in telecommunications.

Isdefe is extensively involved in the telecommunications sector, and thus shares in the objective of the COIT and these awards, as evidenced by the company's commitment to equality in the sectors in which it operates.

The COIT presented the Pioneras_IT 2021 Award to Inmaculada Sánchez Ramos for her technical, social and communication work, and for being a leader for the profession. Three special mentions were also awarded to various initiatives that promote STEM careers among girls and young people.

The award ceremony, which took place on 23 September in a hybrid live-streaming format with a limited, in-person audience, was hosted by María José Monferrer, a member of the COIT's Women IT Working Group. At this event, the dean-president of the COIT and president of the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers (AEIT), Marta Balenciaga, congratulated the winners and thanked all the candidates who took part in this edition, encouraging them to do so again next year.

Inmaculada Sánchez Ramos received the Pioneras_IT 2021 award from the 2020 winner, María Jesús Prieto-Laffarge, who stated that “today this award takes hold and takes root”, assuring that “it will end up achieving its goal”.

The Pioneras_IT Award presented three honourable mentions to different organisations that promote scientific careers among women. One was given to the public institution Inspiring Girls, an initiative to put girls in contact with professional women so they can learn about all the job options that are available to them, free from gender biases.

A special mention was also presented to the private institution Oracle4Girls initiative, which consists of “a series of technological workshops for girls whose purpose is to nurture ICT careers and also motivate their families to learn about the sector through robotics, 3D printing and video games, and show that female talent is essential”.

And the third special mention, this time for an Educational Institution, went to the Up!Steam project of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, which aims to “promote technological careers among young people between 12 and 16 years old, when they have not yet decided on their future studies and we can still inspire them”.

Representing Isdefe at the event was María Jesús Olmedo, Head of the Institutional Relations Office of the Business Development Department
