Isdefe Launches the #Stempills Campaign to Bolster Interest in Science and Technology

#Stempills are webinars and training sessions for the children of Isdefe employees and are intended to inspire and promote an interest in science and technology.

The training sessions will be given initially by the Isdefe volunteers who took part in the initiative on 11 February, “International Day of Women and Girls in Science”, the goal being to open them later to any employees who wish to take part as speakers.

The idea behind these Stempills is to combine the concept of STEM education (which involves working and studying in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths) with the educational method of training sessions, which relies on small, independent training units to lay out the knowledge base in these areas.

The purpose of this campaign is, on the one hand, to embody the spirit of the “11 Feb Initiative” by having Isdefe employees instil an interest from an early age in the field of science and technology, and on the other, to help the families of our employees during this lockdown period.

The campaign, which is being called “Stempills for the lockdown”, already has a schedule of webinars: “Hay ESPACIO para tod@s” [There’s SPACE for everyone], “El universo a tu alcance” [The universe at your fingertips], “¿Qué hace un ingeniero de Isdefe? ¿Te atreves a descubrirlo?” [Find out what an Isdefe engineer does], “¿Volamos?” [Shall we fly?] and “De mayor quiero ser ingenier@” [When I grow up, I want to be an engineer]. Many of our employees have already signed up for the various sessions that will be held during the quarantine.

Through this initiative, Isdefe is leveraging the knowledge of its employees to encourage STEM during this obligatory lockdown and to motivate children and young adults to take an interest in science and technology. By doing so, it is contributing to the achievement of two of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda:

SDG 4. Quality Education

SDG 5. Gender Equality
