Issue number 7 of the Madrid Food Bank magazine, published in December, is devoted entirely to the impact that Covid-19 has had on this Foundation.
In its review of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, the magazine presents an article from the Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, in which she underscores the work done by the armed forces to transport food as part of “Operation Balmis”.
This special issue also contains the article by Isdefe CEO Francisco Quereda titled “Isdefe with SDG 2 - Zero Hunger”, which describes the relationship between Isdefe and the Madrid Food Bank (BAM).
In 2020 and 2021, as a result of the pandemic, Isdefe enhanced its partnership with the BAM, as detailed by Francisco Quereda in his article, where he notes how Isdefe’s professionals “have demonstrated their great solidarity and firm commitment to society”.
Access to proper nutrition is recognised in international law as a universal human right, and it is also one of the goals set out in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015, an agenda that has the full backing of Isdefe.
Goal 2, “Zero Hunger”, of the Sustainable Development Goals has as one of its objectives to “put an end to hunger and to all forms of malnutrition and ensure that everyone, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, has access to healthy, nutritious, and sufficient food year-round”.
