Isdefe takes part in CIBERSEG'17, the Security and Cyberdefence Conference

The CIBERSEG'17, the Security and Cyberdefence Conference began on 24 January at the Polytechnic School of the University of Alcalá, organised by the Automation Department’s Telematic Services Group, the DARS Chair and the student union of the Polytechnic School.

The goal of these conferences is to promote and disseminate topics related to security and cyberdefence in university settings. This year’s edition included various talks and a special open session to promote activities by UAH students.

Opening the event was Mr Pablo Salas Moreno, Commanding General of the Civil Guard’s Information Services Office.

Isdefe and the University of Alcalá have signed a partnership agreement that includes the “Cybersecurity Observatory of Isdefe’s Horizons Network”, which is present in this conference through the workshop on “Introduction to Exploiting: Buffer Overflow”.

This workshop dealt with basic concepts in exploiting, a branch of offensive computer security, and buffer overflows in particular, and was presented by José Javier Martínez Herranz, Head of the Computer Science Department at the Polytechnic School of the University of Alcalá and academic representative in the Cybersecurity Observatory of Isdefe’s Horizons Network, and Álvaro Schuller Fdez-Aguilar, researcher for the DARS Chair.

Isdefe is taking part in this event as a full-service engineering and consulting expert in security projects, and in particular in information systems relevant to national defence and security, critical infrastructures and public administrations.
