From 5 to 8 November, the University Research Institute for Homeland Security (IUISI) held a workshop at Isdefe’s headquarters on cryptocurrency investigation and analysis.

The workshop satisfied the goal of offering attendees a description of how the most widely used cryptocurrencies (BitCoin, Ethereum, etc.) work, providing a thorough overview of the research and transaction monitoring activities that take place in this field.

The sessions discussed practical and proactive methodologies that allow investigating and tracking cryptocurrencies, providing analysts and investigators the ability to identify and examine criminal acts in this area.

The workshop, which was opened by Fanny Castro-Rial, the Director of IUSI, and Jesús Alonso Martín, Isdefe’s Director of Business Development, featured specialists from academia, related industries, tax agencies, Europol and the Civil Guard, who gave presentations and hands-on classes on the latest developments in the cryptocurrency market, its problems and frauds, available data, blockchain, analysis and intelligence, financial and legal aspects and other relevant subjects, all of which made these practical workshops highly appealing to those present.
