María Amparo Valcarce García, the recently appointed Secretary of State for Defence (SEDEF) and President of Isdefe, met with the engineering company's governing body to probe and gauge the company's capabilities.
The meeting addressed issues such as Isdefe's contribution to public service as the Ministry of Defence's internal technical service provider, as well as the capabilities and services that Isdefe provides in its areas of activity.
The activities of innovation, technology prospecting, knowledge exchange and specialised training in security and defence technologies, and Isdefe's positioning as the Spanish Administration's own innovative, primary provider in the field of Defence and Security were discussed in depth.
Another focus of the meeting was the framework of the lines of activity currently being promoted under the European Defence Action Plan (EDAP) and its R&D and capability development windows.
Appointed as the SEDEF on 10 May, 2022, Ms. Maria Amparo Valcarce has been linked to the Ministry of Defence since June 2018, when she held the position of General Director of Military Recruitment and Education, and was appointed Undersecretary of State for Defence in July 2020.
The new SEDEF has been decorated with the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit and the Grand Cross of the Order of Alfonso X the Wise; and, as Secretary of State for Defence, occupies the presidency of Isdefe.
