The Minister of Defence drew the 3rd MCCD Cyberdefence Workshop, which featured Isdefe, to a close

This year saw the 3rd edition of the Cyberdefence Workshop of the Joint Cyberdefence Command (MCCD), titled “Military Operations in Cyberspace”.

After receiving numerous visitors, the workshop was closed yesterday by the Minister of Defence, Ms María Dolores de Cospedal, who noted that “threats from cyberspace are directly and increasingly affecting the national defence and security of Spain. We have to have the means and be at the forefront in our preparedness and capacity to respond”.

The workshops were organised by the Joint Cyberdefence Command and began on 22 May at a ceremony presided over by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Javier González-Huix, along with the Head of the Joint Cyberdefence Command, General Carlos Gómez López de Medina, and Isdefe’s CEO, Francisco Quereda Rubio.

Shared at this gathering were experiences and know-how acquired in recent operations. This is an event where the state of the art in all facets of cybersecurity is presented and debated.

Representing Isdefe was Mr Oscar Pastor, Head of Security and Critical Infrastructures, part of Isdefe’s Defence and Security Department, who took part in the presentation on “The Horizons Network and the Cybersecurity Observatory”.

An Isdefe engineer stationed at the MCCD, Mr José Manuel Agrelo, took part in the MCCD “SACMAN” workshop, while Sandra Bardón, another Isdefe engineer stationed at the MCCD, gave a talk on “NATO CCD COE: Organization and Future”, discussing the organisation and activities of NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.
