Full house at Isdefe to present the 6th DESEi+d Congress and the Isdefe R&D book prize

This Monday, at the Isdefe assembly hall, the Sub-Directorate General for Planning, Technology and Innovation of the Directorate General for Armaments and Materiel, the Directorate General for Military Recruiting and Training, and Defence University Centres and Isdefe presented the 6th Congress for R&D in Defence and Security (DESEi+d 2018).

In keeping with the planned programme, the welcoming remarks were given by Isdefe’s CEO, Mr Francisco Quereda, who underscored the innovative vocation of Defence and the important contribution of the National R&D Congress to the shared and collaborative knowledge amongst universities, research centres, SME, etc.

Then, Vice Admiral Jesús Manrique Braojos, Deputy Assistant Director for Planning, Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate General for Armaments and Materiel, provided an overview of the previous congress (DESEi+d 17) and highlighted the outstanding contributions made there by the various participants and innovative players. 

Mr Jesús Alonso, Director of Business Development at Isdefe, spoke of the importance of the Congress to R&D in defence and security, and of Isdefe’s contribution to the Congress.

He also discussed the goal of the Isdefe R&D Prize and the company’s commitment in this area, before finally presenting the Isdefe R&D Book Prize, which contains the ten nominees for the 2017 DESEi+d award.

Vice Admiral Manrique, along with the Director of the Army’s Cavalry Academy, Colonel Santiago Aguado Arroyo, then announced that the 6th National Congress for R&D in Defence and Security (DESEi+d 2018) will be held at said academy, located in Valladolid, from November 20th to 22nd of this year.

The closing remarks were delivered by Admiral Santiago Ramón González Gómez, General Director of Armaments and Materiel (DIGAM) for the Ministry of Defence, who noted the dual interest and importance that this Congress has to the DGAM, by providing a knowledge of the national industrial technological base, and promoting activities and initiatives involving defence technology and research. To conclude, he congratulated the ten finalists for the "Isdefe R&D Prize", and in particular the lead author for the winning work in last year’s edition, Mr Raúl López Sánchez.
