Isdefe takes part in the CESEDEN summer course on “The Evolution of Defence R&D in Spain by 2020”

The course, organised by CESEDEN along with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, was held from 16 to 18 July and featured Isdefe and public and private agencies involved with defence technology. One of the goals of the event was to introduce and discuss the opportunities derived from the European Union’s involvement in defence.

In his presentation, Daniel Mosquera, head of R&D at Isdefe, talked about strategic areas of R&D at Isdefe: the three most significant projects in the area of security financed by the European Commission (Virtuoso, e-Police and COPKIT); the internal programme to solicit and manage ideas for R&D; and the Horizons Network, a technology foresight project that brings together Isdefe and academia in order to satisfy the Public Administration’s need for innovation. This network allows identifying, analysing and facing future challenges, and is used to develop innovative ideas and positioning plans involving technology, management and methodologies.

Finally, he also noted the actions that Isdefe carries out to support the Ministry of Defence, such as organising the National Congress on Defence and Security R&D (DESEi+d), promoted by the Sub-Directorate General for Planning, Technology and Innovation (SDGPLATIN), in concert with the General Directorate for Armaments and Materiel (DGAM), the General Directorate for Military Recruitment and Training (DIGEREM), Isdefe and university defence centres.
