Isdefe at the 11th Seminar: Satellites as a key element for security, defence and government applications

The 11th Seminar on “Satellites as a key element for security, defence and government applications” was held at the Cantabria Science and Technology Park in Santander from 5 to 7 September. The Seminar was hosted by Hisdesat and AMETIC.

The conferences and roundtables at this year’s seminar dealt with the current status of satellite government services.

The seminar was opened by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (JEMACON), Admiral Francisco Javier González-Huix Fernández, and closed by the Secretary of State for Defence, Mr Ángel Olivares Ramírez.

Representing Isdefe was its CEO, Mr Francisco Quereda Rubio, who took part in the roundtable on “New Programmes and New Space: How To Prepare Spain’s Space Industry?”, and its Director of Business Development, Mr Jesús Alonso Martín, who was involved in the roundtable on “The Technology Challenges of Satellite Services”.

The event hosted four roundtables with representatives from institutions like the General Office for Defence Policy, the General Directorate for Armaments and Materiel, Operations Command, Air Force, Armed Forces Intelligence Centre, National Institute for Aerospace Technology, Civil Guard, Centre for Industrial Technology Development, Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR), Hisdesat, as well as from companies in the industry. The roundtables considered areas related to regulations, technical aspects and challenges, governance and business issues, and the Galileo Programme.
