Isdefe takes part in the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security sector
David Martin Borreguero, an engineer in Isdefe’s Consulting and Process Management Office, took part in the 3rd “Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector, Phase II”, as a moderator in the working group Sub-WG2: Energy Efficiency.
The event, a European Commission initiative managed by the European Defence Agency (EDA), was held in Nicosia on 26 and 27 February.
The second phase of the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector was launched in October 2017 and lasts 22 months, coming to an end on 15 July 2019. It is financed by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
To implement it, the EDA is partnering with the European Commission (Directorate-General for energy – DG ENER) and the Ministries of Defence and armed forces of EDA member States, as well as with other stakeholders, such as academia and industry. Based on the achievements of the first phase (2015-2017), the second phase (2017-2019) is researching how to most effectively apply energy efficiency measures, renewable energy sources and technology to the European defence sector, and how to protect critical energy infrastructures.
This initiative will help to identify the reasons that are preventing the Defence sector from taking full advantage of sustainable energy and the financial benefits it provides.
The forum gives the Defence and Security sector the opportunity to make progress in projects related to energy efficiency, renewable energies, energy infrastructure security and financing aspects.
