On 5 March, the Ministry of the Interior’s Centre for Security Technologies (CETSE) hosted the “International Security Workshops”, organised by the Spanish Association of Technology Defence, Security, Aerospace and Space Companies (TEDAE), in partnership with the Civil Guard and National Police.

Under the slogan “Technology Solutions for Security”, these workshops revolved around four round tables, where topics like protecting critical infrastructures, RPAS as a surveillance system, RPAS as a threat and the technological approach to security were discussed.

The Head of Public Intelligence and Security of Isdefe’s Defence and Security Office, Mr Jesús Alcázar, participated in the “RPAS as a threat” round table and spoke about the technical challenges posed by RPAS threats, and discussed the need for regulatory agencies to establish and apply security laws and requirements in order to ensure the safe use of these technologies, given the wide range of applications and operational missions they can carry out more efficiently in comparison to classical techniques or solutions, their constant growth and the great interest they have aroused worldwide.

The event was opened by Mr Francisco Pardo Piqueras, Director General of the Police, Mr Eugenio Pereiro Blanco, General Superintendent of Information and Mr Jaime de Rábago, President of TEDAE, who also took part in the closing ceremony with the Director General of the Civil Guard, Mr Félix Vicente Azón Vilas, and the Chief of Staff of the Civil Guard, Division General José L. Arranz Villafruela.
