Isdefe will discuss the progress of integrating RPAS with the airspace at the 2016 World ATM Congress

Isdefe will have a stand at the 2016 World ATM Congress, the leading global gathering for the air traffic management industry. Experts and technology developers, along with air navigation services providers and related companies, will meet for the fourth year in Madrid to share experiences and address the challenges of a strategic sector with good growth prospects. The event, organized by the Association of Civil Air Navigation Services (CANSO) and the Association of Air Traffic Control (ATCA), will be held at the Madrid Fairgrounds (IFEMA) from 8 to 10 March.

Isdefe serves both ENAIRE and AENA, Spain’s national air transport services providers, as well as regulators and supervisors and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) and Spain’s National Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Internationally, Isdefe also collaborates with industry bodies such as Eurocontrol, Sesar JU (Joint Undertaking) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

During the event, Isdefe will introduce the seminar on Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), which will be held on Thursday, 10 March at the ATM Theatre. The seminar, entitled "Ongoing postgraduate and PhD research in RPAS domain", aims to share initiatives and opportunities for innovation that have been developed involving these platforms.

The workshop is part of the technology foresight development program led and coordinated by Isdefe called " Horizons Network", which is supported by several university research groups. Specifically, the RPAS seminar is organized by the Air Navigation Research Group at the School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering (ETSIAE) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). The workshop will present the results of the R & D project called "DEMORPAS", part of the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) program, whose consortium has been led by Isdefe and has had the participation of organizations like ENAIRE, CRIDA and INTA and the collaboration of the Air Force. During the project the first two exercises with real aircraft were conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of integrating RPAS into the general air traffic management system.
