This technology workshop, organised by the Association for the Promotion of Strategic Technologies and Industries (APTIE), in concert with the Ministries of the Interior and Defence, was held on 15 March at the facilities of the El Pardo Technology Security Centre (CETSE).

This technology workshop, in which Isdefe took part, also featured experts on technological solutions for preventing security drone incidents, and representatives from the Ministries of the Interior and Defence, the National Police, the Civil Guard, CNPIC and developers. Opening the workshop was Mr Enrique Belda, the Ministry of the Interior’s Deputy Director General of Information and Communication Systems for Security, and Mr Alfonso López Clavier, President of APTIE.

Álvaro Manresa, Head of Business Development at Isdefe, took part alongside experts from the National Police and Civil Guard in a panel on the “Current situation and needs to prevent national security and public safety incidents”, and provided details during his presentation on the threats to defence and security that this type of device can pose. He also discussed the initiatives, challenges and measures to counteract the use of drones for malicious purposes.

Also speaking at the workshop was Mateo Burgos, professor at the UPM and Director of the Isdefe-ETSIT Chair of the Horizons Network, who spoke about the Defence and Security Observatory and the state of the art in anti-drone technology.

The workshop was closed out by Vice-Admiral Jesús Manrique, Deputy Director General for Planning, Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Defence, who noted the interest and importance of the workshop as a forum for exchanging knowledge and sharing the needs of the end users of the systems, and the capabilities offered by the developers of said systems to satisfy those needs.
