On 5 March, the Ministry of the Interior’s Centre for Security Technologies (CETSE) hosted the “International Security Workshops”, organised by the Spanish Association of Technology Defence, Security, Aerospace and Space Companies (TEDAE), in partnership with the Civil Guard and National Police.

Under the slogan “Technology Solutions for Security”, these workshops revolved around four round tables, where topics like protecting critical infrastructures, RPAS as a surveillance system, RPAS as a threat and the technological approach to security were discussed.

The Institute of Politics and Governance at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) organised a seminar on  “Operational strategies and actions against drug trafficking” in which J. Antonio Díaz Bermúdez, Head of Isdefe’s Border Protection Department, gave a presentation on “Spanish Experiences on Technologies and Surveillance Systems for Border Control”, and Mariano Gómez Plaza, Isdefe consultant on surveillance strategies for public safety, spoke about “Technologies Applied to Intelligence-Led Policing Against Organized Crime”.

On Friday, 8 February, Isdefe’s Space Director, from the Space and Technology Centres Department, Ms Rosa Pulido, took part in a series of technical conferences at the Advanced Polytechnic School of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), titled “ISDEFE in the Aerospace Sector”. 

The Universidad Popular Carmen de Michelena, in concert with the Tres Cantos town hall, is organising the “Spain in the Universe” Week from 8 to 27 February, an event that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, the first manned flight to the Moon.

The event features a series of activities, conferences and a static display, in conjunction with the NASA and ESA space agencies, as well as with the Astrobiology Centre and INTA, which shows the most important activities carried out in Spain by individuals, companies and institutions in the fields of astronomy,

On 24 January, the 11th edition of the Air Force Excellence in Maintenance Awards was held at the Headquarters of the Air Force.

The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant General Miguel Ángel Martín Pérez, who was accompanied by the generals on the High Council of the Air Force, their Army and Navy counterparts, as well as by other civilian and military officials, along with representatives from those Spanish aerospace companies that the Air Force works closely with.
