The Director General of the Civil Guard, José Manuel Holgado, closed out the CLOSEYE Project yesterday in Málaga. This is a maritime border surveillance and control initiative whose goal is to incorporate new tools such as unmanned aircraft, satellites and balloons into surveillance systems in an effort to improve the security of external maritime borders.

The second edition of the programme to solicit R&D ideas, held last 14 February at the Isdefe headquarters, has been very well received, with a total of twenty proposals being submitted by twelve candidates since the programme was kicked off on 28 June 2016.

Starting tomorrow, 14 February, Isdefe will launch its second annual programme to solicit and manage R&D ideas. This R&D programme was introduced on 28 June 2016 to great acclaim, and resulted in twenty proposals being submitted by twelve candidates.

In this year’s edition, the winning projects from last year’s edition will be detailed, and the prizes will be presented to this year’s winners. This time, the event will be inaugurated by Isdefe’s CEO.

The Official Association of Spanish Aeronautical Engineers (COIAE) has organised a congress on “Recognition of the EMAR regulation in Europe and current status in Spain”, which will be held on 10 February at the Spanish Institute of Engineering.

This congress will discuss the European Military Airworthiness Requirements (EMAR) and their implementation. EMAR specifies the administrative procedures that the Military Airworthiness Authority must observe in the performance of its duties and responsibilities.

The workshop on “Innovative aviation technologies. The European Clean Sky 2 initiative” was held on 8 February, organised by the Circulo Foundation in concert with the School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

The goal of this event was to report on the main European R&D programmes in the field of aviation, in particular on the Clean Sky 2 Programme, and to analyse the strategies of Spain’s aviation industry and institutions for maintaining their leadership positions in the sector.
