The 1st Digital Transformation Congress in Alcorcón (Digit@lcor), organised by the National Cybersecurity Institute (Incibe), was held this past 7 March at the Viñagrande Cultural Centre. The event, which was attended by over 200 people, dealt with new technologies and the future challenges posed by smart cities.
Opening the Congress were the Deputy Councilwoman for Presidency and Justice of the Community of Madrid, Ms. Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of Alcorcón, Mr David Pérez. The Congress featured the National Smart Cities Coordinator of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda, Enrique Martínez, and the Director of ICT and Digital Economy Projects at the EOI Business School, Emilio Cabanes.
Organised around three round tables, the event welcomed speakers from public and private institutions, who discussed subjects related to cybersecurity and smart cities, smart mobility, environment and security and digital identity, and citizen services.
Those present at the Congress highlighted the impact that this profound transformation is having on society, activities, processes, skills and organisational models, and the need to implement strategies involving the use of these types of technologies.
The last round table, on “Digital identity and citizen services”, was moderated by Mr José Felix Balbás, Head of Systems Interoperability at Isdefe, and featured, as the institutional speaker, the Superintendent of the National Police, Santiago Maroto, and notable speakers from other institutions. Discussed during this round table were new digital identification methods to supplement those already in existence and that will speed up citizen interactions with the Public Administration.
