1st International Gender and Cybersecurity Forum

The first International Gender and Cybersecurity Forum ended on 6 June 2017. The theme was “Creating a more inclusive digital world v 1.0”, and it was organised by the National Institute for Cybersecurity (INCIBE) and the Organization of American States (OAS) at the auditorium of León.

This gathering, which was opened by the Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda, José María Lassalle, was intended to provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and information on gender and cybersecurity, to analyse gender problems in the industry both in Spain and internationally, and to debate gender violence in the digital realm.
With a format that included conferences with renowned national and international speakers, debates and working groups, this international forum was open to all public and private industry professionals, civil society, foundations and law enforcement agencies. It also welcomed communications, legal, academic and other industry professionals, basically any professional who is able to offer new ideas and thoughts on how to create a more inclusive digital world.

Sandra Bardón, who works in Isdefe’s Defence and Security Direction, part of the Critical Systems and Infrastructures Department and assigned to the Joint Cyberdefence Command, took part in the first panel on “Initiatives and opportunities for professional development”, held on Monday, 5 June, and where she noted the importance of having strategic human resources plans to come up with specific training for cybersecurity employees. Bardón also noted that the field of cybersecurity is growing exponentially and offers a bright professional future, one in which many women could enjoy a promising career and play a key role.

Isdefe took part in this forum by offering its experience in engineering services and as a security consultant for critical information systems and infrastructures.
Isdefe also bears the “Workplace Equality” seal, which acknowledges Isdefe as a committed company that applies equality policies and provides equal opportunities in the workplace.
