The Official Association of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) and the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers (AEIT) organised the 56th FITCE (Federation of Telecommunications Engineers of the European Community) Congress, which is held annually in a different country, and which this year took place in Madrid.

On 14 and 15 September, under the theme “The digital transformation: a challenge for Information and Telecommunications Technologies engineers”, professionals from multiple nations committed to basic and applied research on the digital transformation gathered to debate and analyse engineering’s evolving role in telecommunications.

Oscar Pastor, the Head of Critical System and Infrastructure Security at Isdefe’s Defence and Security Department, took part in the session held on the 15th on cybersecurity, along with González Ubierna (Deputy Director of Cybersecurity Technologies at INCIBE), Luis Jiménez (Deputy Director of the National Cryptologic Centre) and Luis de Marcos (Professor at the Universidad Alcalá de Henares). This session dealt with cybersecurity from the standpoint of the digital transformation that is taking place involving public administrations, citizens and companies, the security of these relationships, and the role played by organisations like the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute INCIBE) and the National Cryptologic Centre, as well as the capacity that IT professionals have to face the challenges of this new scenario for the digital transformation of society.
