On 28 November, the Association of Spanish Graduates in Security and Defence (ADESyD) held its 4th Congress, which gathered together experts from academia, the military, police, Civil Guard and the business world under the theme “Sharing (visions of) Security”.
The Congress saw debates on current security topics over the course of four roundtables on National, International, Public and Private Security, which underscored the unifying role of security and the importance of promoting a culture of security to drive the national security system.
The Congress was opened by the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Fernando García Sánchez, while the closing ceremonies were handled by the socialist-party spokesman for the Spanish Parliament’s Commission of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ignacio Sánchez Amor, President of the Commission for Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
Ms María Angustias Caracuel Raya, President of ADESyD and Director of Spanish Women in Internacional Security (SWIIS), Mr José Díaz Toribio, General Coordinator of the ADESyD Congress, and Mr Jesús Alonso Martín, Head of Business Development at Isdefe, were tasked with giving the welcoming remarks to the participants.
Also representing Isdefe was Mr Antonio Vicedo García Rodríguez, Energy and Infrastructure Manager in the Strategic Consulting and Process Office, who gave a presentation on “The National Energy Security Strategy. Scenario for Defence”.
