Guardia Civil hosts first CLOSEYE VIP DAY

Last Wednesday, 30th of September, the Guardia Civil hosted the first CLOSEYE VIP DAY, whose main objective was to represent the formal opening of the operational experimentation  to be carried out at the Alboran Sea Scenario and under the frame of INDALO Operation during September and October 2015.

 

The event was also a unique opportunity to disseminate the overall results achieved. The Project is led by the Guardia Civil, in partnership with the Guardia Nacional Republicana Portuguesa , the Armada Italiana, the Agencia Espacial Italiana , the Centro de Satélites de la Unión Europea and  ISDEFE.

The act was formally opened with the speech of the General Director of Guardia Civil, Mr. Arsenio Fernández de Mesa, who recalled the background that motivated this initiative and the strong commitment of the Spanish authorities for the achievement of its goals and objectives, which will be relevant to contribute to the reinforcement of future EU Maritime Border Surveillance capabilities. The event, celebrated in CECORVIGMAR’S conference room, included presentations from European Commission representatives, CLOSEYE Partners and CLOSEYE Contractors.

Apart from the conferences, the companies SELEX ES, INDRA, AIRBUS and GMV, along with the project partners, had the opportunity to explain the potential benefit of these new systems to all the attendees in an exhibition area.

The event was closed by the Spanish Ministro del  Interior, Mr. Jorge Fernández Díaz, who once again highlighted the relevance of this initiative for the future of both the Spanish and the EU Maritime Border Surveillance
