Horizons Network workshop, collaborating in systems engineering innovation for defence and universities

Next Tuesday, 17 October, Isdefe is organising a workshop at its headquarters on innovation in the Administration, which will be closed by Mr Agustín Conde Bajén, Secretary of State for Defence. The workshop is intended for representatives of the administration, universities and organisations and institutions involved in innovation, and seeks to provide a gathering point to promote innovation in collaborative networks and models.

During the event, Isdefe’s Horizons Network will be presented. This technology foresight project allows identifying, analysing and facing future challenges, developing innovative ideas and positioning plans in technical, management and methodological areas where academia and Isdefe converge, the goal being to provide for the innovative capacity of specialised university departments so that they, supported by Isdefe’s know-how and experience, can meet the innovation needs of the Public Administration in the service areas encompassed by the Network.

In collaboration with several universities, in 2016 Isdefe launched the Horizons Network on innovation in an effort to identify, analyse and propose innovative solutions to future Administration challenges in Defence, Security and other areas. The Network seeks to establish links with other initiatives in this area and thus become the focus point between its own innovative capacity and that inherent to universities in order to put innovation to work for the Administration.

The Workshop will feature three roundtables on the topics: “Innovation in the Administration”, moderated by Mr. Francisco Quereda Rubio, the CEO of Isdefe, and featuring Lieutenant General Juan Manuel García Montaño, Managing Director of Armaments and Materiél for the Ministry of Defence; “Innovation Networks” and “Academia and Innovation”. Participating in the roundtables will be representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda and the rectors of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III in Madrid and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

Isdefe’s Director of Business Development, Mr. Jesús Alonso, will give a brief presentation on the most relevant aspects of the Isdefe Horizons Network.
