Isdefe and its educational commitment to Systems Engineering

Isdefe and its educational commitment to Systems Engineering

Yesterday, 21 November, the book by General Manfredo Monforte Moreno, Programme and Project Management and Systems Engineering, published by the Ministry of Defence, was presented at Isdefe’s headquarters.

This book aims to show its readers the methods, basic tools and principles of project management and systems engineering and is intended for professionals who wish to gain an overview of this discipline, and for supervisors in the field who wish to improve their managerial skills.

Our Director of Business Development, Jesús Alonso, was charged with opening this presentation, an event in Isdefe’s Horizons Network Series, a technology innovation, foresight, analysis and positioning initiative that seeks to meet the future needs of the government. This book is a perfect example of a popular Engineering Systems book, which is one of the main goals of the Horizons Network.

In his address, Jesús Alonso recalled that Isdefe is the Systems Engineering leader in Spain because it has fostered its development since its inception. He also noted that Isdefe’s objectives include the dissemination and constant updating of Defence and Security technologies through training, research and development activities.

The event was attended by the Managing Director of the Foundation for Defence and Security Technologies, Ms Marisol Martínez Tirado, who had a few words for the author and who noted the importance of dissemination and training activities in this field.

Also of note was the presence of Division General Ricardo Torrón, a guest of honour who is well versed in the subject. He summarised General Monforte’s career and briefly reviewed Isdefe’s trajectory and how Systems Engineering has been at the core of the company since its foundation.

Also present at the event were numerous VIPs from the Ministry of Defence, Spain’s Army and Air Force, Ministry of Interior, law enforcement agencies, INTA, Institute of Weapons Engineers, as well as associations, companies and academics from the fields of Defence and Security.

The event was closed by INTA Associate Director and Division General, Mr Luis A. Boixareu.
