Isdefe Collaborated on Nine Presentations Given at the 9th DESEi+d CONGRESS (2022).

The 9th National Congress on R&D in Defence and Security (DESEi+d 2022) was held at the Spanish Army’s General Morillo Base in Pontevedra from November 15 to 17, with three plenary tables focused on technological innovation applied to Defence, and nearly 150 presentations covering all the action areas of the Defence Technology and Innovation Strategy (ETID 2020), with participation by more than 350 people.

Organised by the General Sub-directorate for Planning, Technology and Innovation of the Directorate General of Armament and Material, and the Directorate General of Recruitment and Military Education, together with the University Centres of Defence, and Isdefe (Systems Engineering for the Defence of Spain), the congress brings together the agents involved in the field of R&D for the defence and security of our country, generating a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience.

As a result of the work carried out in Isdefe’s Red Horizontes (Horizons Network), five talks were given by the Defence and Security Observatory (School of Telecommunications Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, ETSIT-UPM); the ICT and Artificial Intelligence Observatory (Universidad de Alcalá, UAH) and the Space Observatory (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, UC3M).

Four presentations were given with the participation of Isdefe employees: "The implementation of the ‘upward path’ of ANALYTICS for the benefit of personnel management";

"The analysis of risks associated with the flight of unmanned aerial systems in inhabited areas"; "CBRN Substance Detector Drones in explosive atmospheres" and "The compatibility of the concept of Concurrent Engineering with the development of systems for military use: the case of the ESCORPION program".

The conference was inaugurated by Secretary of State for Defence María Amparo Valcarce, who stressed that "investment in defence is an investment in peace, freedom, security and democratic values, but also an investment that generates wealth, employment and territorial and social cohesion, because it is a productive investment".

At the closing ceremony of DESEi+d 2022, at which Isdefe's CEO, Francisco Quereda, participated along with other figures, the Isdefe Innovation Awards were presented by Isdefe Business Development Director Jesús Alonso.

Pedro Azorín Montesinos, from the Naval Military School (ENM), received Isdefe’s Antonio Torres R&D Award (6th edition) for his paper on "Improvements in the accuracy and stability of data in the search for satellites and space junk"; Ida Blanco Blázquez, from the University Centre for Defence at the Naval Military School (CUD-ENM), received the Isdefe University Student Award (1st edition) for her work "Wastewater purification systems for Navy ships: the evaluation of alternatives and preliminary designs for an F-100".
