Isdefe presents the award for the best doctoral thesis in Defence and Security

The 37th annual awards for the best doctoral thesis, senior-year projects, Master’s projects and best academic record in Telecommunications Engineering were presented this past Friday, June 23rd.

The presentation ceremony was held in the event hall at Spain’s Institute of Engineering, which was opened by the Dean-President of the School of Telecommunications Engineers and President of the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers, Eugenio Fontán Oñate.

The panel was made up of directors of university centres and Master’s directors from all over Spain, who judged over one hundred projects. This year’s edition saw the Universidad de Oviedo receive the most awards, with five honours presented to its telecommunications engineers.

The Isdefe Award for the best doctoral thesis in Security and Defence was presented by Isdefe’s Marketing Manager, Lluis Vinagre, to Ms Ana Arboleya for her thesis on Novel XYZ scanner-based radiation and scattering measurement techniques for antenna diagnostics and imaging applications, from the Universidad de Oviedo, supervised by Mr Fernando Luis Las-Heras Andrés and Mr Yuri Álvarez López.

With this award, Isdefe reinforces its firm commitment to promoting and boosting engineering training and talent, on this occasion in the area of telecommunications. Innovation and training have always been the drivers that make Isdefe the Spanish government’s in-house leader in Defence and Security.
