Mr Jesús Alonso, Isdefe’s Director of Business Development, took part in the presentation on “The Future of the Defence Industry” during a workshop titled “The Value of Spain’s Aerospace Industry”, which was organised by the Official Institute of Spanish Aerospace Engineers (COIAE) and Fly News at the facilities of the Spanish Institute of Engineering on 27 November.
His presentation focused on two catalysing elements in this transformative process: the rising international prominence of this sector and the technological challenges.
Mr Jesús Alonso pointed out that “our aerospace industry is off to a good start, ranking fifth in Europe in terms of turnover and jobs”, concluding his analysis by noting that Spain’s aerospace industry is at the forefront at the European level.
During his overview of the various action plans of the Ministry of Defence, a key player that has deployed the mechanisms necessary to meet its needs, he referred to the government’s initiatives and commitments to multilateral organisations like NATO, devoting a few words to outline the European EDAP (European Defence Action Plan) initiative.
Isdefe’s Director of Development argued that the position of our national industry on the international stage must be consistent with the framework within which market developments and EU policies are being worked out, and which rely on cooperation amongst member States and their defence industries.
Isdefe, as the in-house services provider, supports the actions of the Spanish administration to meet the future challenges of the defence industry, which are, in the end, the challenges of the aerospace industry.
In conclusion he stated that “the future of the defence industry is promising as long as we know how to fully insert ourselves into every European area of action and cooperate to overcome international competition and technological challenges”.
