The `Proyectos Internos de I+D+i´ program demonstrates entrepreneurial capacity at Isdefe

The "Internal R&D" initiative has been a formula for successfully demonstrating the entrepreneurial skills of Isdefe employees. This is the first internal call to propose projects aimed at innovation, research and development to improve the quality of the services provided by Isdefe as in-house technical services provider of the Spanish government. The initiative received a total of 18 proposals led by 14 employees, two of which have been chosen to receive the appropriate funding and become internal R & D projects.

During the first quarter of 2015, the Business Development Department held a contest for every employee, regardless of their level of responsibility or department, to submit ideas for internal R&D projects. The winning proposals are “Strategic balanced scorecard tool”, proposed by José Luis de Rosario and Tirso Camacho, and “Acquiring generic capabilities for armament simulations”, by Jose Manuel Muñez. With an approximate duration of 8 months, both initiatives will be funded with a total of €100,000 from Isdefe’s R&D budget, and will be implemented during 2016.

In recognition of the effort made by the proponents of the proposals, Francisco Quereda, CEO of the company, stressed the importance and Isdefe’s commitment to R & D and the role that - as has been demonstrated- the employees play in generating proposals aligned with business strategy and customer needs. He also remarked that the purpose of these initiatives is to improve the quality of the services provided by Isdefe as in-house technical services provider of the Spanish government, and recalled the commitment to internal R & D activities, especially the "Horizontes Isdefe" project.

The ceremony was also attended by Jesus Alonso, Director of Business Development, who stressed the importance of R & D to Isdefe’s competitiveness, and as a key element in its financial support. Jose M. Hesse, Director of Operations, underlined the existing operational commitment to facilitate the implementation of these internal projects and maximize the profitability of their results.

In the closing ceremony, the CEO thanked once again the proponents for their efforts, and invited the Director of Business Development to institutionalize this initiative by announcing future calls for Internal R&D projects from all employees.
