Workshop to promote the Spanish Systems Engineering Platform

To celebrate the launch in 2015 of the Spanish Systems Engineering Platform, backed by Isdefe, and the signing of a partnership agreement between Isdefe and the Norwegian Institute of Systems Engineering this past June 17th, an internal workshop was held in the Isdefe lecture hall to promote the Systems Engineering platform.

The event featured Mr. Jesús Alonso, Director of Business Development at Isdefe, who reviewed the history of Systems Engineering, analysing its tremendous importance to Isdefe and highlighting the company’s indisputable leadership in the discipline.

The Spanish Systems Engineering Platform, led by Spain’s Royal Academy of Engineering in concert with leading defence and security companies like Isdefe, Airbus, Indra and Navantia, and with national engineering associations like the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAI), the Spanish Institute of Engineering (IEE) and TEDAE, will launch a coordinated strategy to develop and promote systems engineering in Spain, and highlight the need to implement specific training programmes at the university level.

In addition, following the signing of the partnership agreement with the NISE (Norwegian Institute of Systems Engineering), a Systems Engineering Observatory was created, the goals of which are:  to monitor and develop foresight involving future challenges in the areas of systems engineering, programme management and maintenance; to develop specific training programmes (internal to Isdefe and client oriented); and to gain recognition between clients and competitors.

The observatory revolves around three main areas of activity: foresight, dissemination and training, and disclosure and visibility.
